This adventure begins with a steep climb to the Largo do Miranda viewpoint, from where, during a brief stop, you can see the entire city of Funchal.
We continue our expedition along a road lined with exotic forest, where acacias and eucalyptus trees predominate. At a certain point in our adventure, we suggest a short walk of about 2 km, along an irrigation canal: the levada of Serra do Faial.
This levada, built at the beginning of the 20th century, was for much of that century the main water supply route for the southeast coast of the island and is today one of the most accessible levadas.
The adventure continues aboard our Land Rover along a winding road that crosses the rural landscape, between the villages of Camacha and Santo da Serra. At a certain point, the mechanical capabilities of the vehicle, as well as the knowledge and experience of your guide, will be put to the test.
You will only return to the hotel after a brief pass through Machico, the place where the Portuguese first set foot some 600 years ago.
The return to Funchal will be a peaceful and vibrant trip.
